Seeing Cyan.

Just got sent the newest track from Kindness. I constantly include the cover version of Swinging Party in my DJ sets - and am pretty amped to see new stuff coming out.

Turn on your Graydar.

Graydar is Peter PleasureCruise and MisterBradleyP doing what they do best - getting faded and playing dusty disco records. Here's the first in what hopes to be a series of mixtapes and productions - if they can keep their shit together.

A great, dark man.

I ripped this track late last year and completely forgot about it. Thank you Tigersushi for re-releasing this in 2002 and thank you Joakim for giving us the Supa Edit.

Tell your friends to cool it.
The Belle & Sebastian EP Books is without a doubt the group's funkiest effort to date. When the release dropped in 2004 it was a pretty big departure from the standard B & S vibe - some people loved it; others hated it. I loved it (shocker!) and unearthed my copy to share with you today.

Heist.
Receiving emails from The Courier of Death shouldn't be a good thing - unless of course it's from a polite chap in Glasgow. Taken from the press release:
Having established themselves as firm favorites of Glasgow’s long-running club Optimo (Espacio), as well as successfully working up a sweat at Fabric and Disco Bloodbath, DEN HAAN (Matthew Aldworth & Andrew Gardiner) are back with the third instalment in their electrifying macho-disco ouvre.
This time the Glasgow duo, who were responsible for unleashing “Release the Beast” (Optimo Music) and “Night Shift” (Dissident) on unsuspecting dance floors earlier this year, return with a cinematic two-track 12”.
Greed! Violence! Double-dealing! Vengeance! These are the themes of this action-packed single.
The 12” features “Heist”, which puts you behind the wheel in an explosive hi-NRG car chase, persued by Moroderesque swooping arpeggiators and ‘punch your fist in the air’ Glam Rock Guitars. “Russian Boat Commander”, on the other hand, is a progressive Cossack disco stomper that takes you on an epic voyage of symphonic eastern melodies and dangerous Gothic undertones.
It is also the debut single from The Courier of Death, the new label run by DEN HAAN themselves. They have already released The Courier of Death – The Original Soundtrack (from the ultimate B-movie, originally released in 1984) and now adopt the same name for their label.
Escape into the unknown with DEN HAAN’s “Heist”.
Matt was kind enough to provide me with both tracks off the release. These are low bit rate and for preview only - support good music and buy the record when it drops in November!
Heist / Den Haan (YSI) - expired.

Eskimos? Igloos?
I ripped a bunch of vinyl to mp3 this past weekend. Some records I've been meaning to digitize, while others I had all but forgotten about until the digging for records to rip process began. Case in point is this 2004 release on Eskimo Recordings from Jean Winner. The release is everything you'd expect from the Eskimo crew; classy grooving house with touches of electro and disco to keep things interesting. I've taken the liberty of pitching down the track -4.

Rainy Day Rips
I'm trying to step up my game when it comes to ripping vinyl to digital format. The rips are getting better. At least I'd like to think they are getting better. Any insight into how I can improve my process would be greatly appreciated.

Meet Me @ Night Moves
I've been away with alot of design work (good). A stomach flu (bad). And a couple of dj gigs (good). It's been a rollercoaster of a month kids. I also wanted to leave my Halloween mix up for a minute – check it out if you haven't already.

It's the weekend! And it's gonna be a fun one too. Tonight I'm playing at 806 Wine & Martini Bar and tomorrow I've got the B Side's Five Year Anniversary Party. The B Side party should be bonkers. Really looking forward to it. I'm posting a track that I will no doubt play tomorrow night – a classic cut with timeless appeal. It's nutz to think that this track has been killing dance floors for close to thirty years.

The Season of the Bitch
I'm putting together a Halloween mix and going through all sorts of random music tonight. I've pretty much got the set list - a quick 10 to 12 tracks through some weird and creepy shit. I don't wanna put too much thought or effort into it; because then all that happens is I labor over tracks and mixing (yes, I do it live – no ableton for mixes – well, at least not ones I'm doing for fun ; 0) and then its like October 30th and I still don't have the "perfect mix". Fuck that. It's all about making mixes like this in the moment. And I'm almost there.

Open Sesame
Looking though my music tonite, I found a record(s) that I played the hell out of in 2004 - and kinda forgot about it - until now. It's an Eskimo Recordings comp with all sorts of movers. You could seriously just show up to a gig and play both records front/back and have the club going bonkers. All kinds of hits from the likes of Tiga, Mylo, Tomboy and Chromeo. As mentioned above, I pretty much played this compilation into the ground about four years ago; and its become one of those "forgotten about albums that had its day in the sun but now resides at the back of the bin" kinda thing.

Pompa Sexo
Hello Pumpkin Pies,
Well, I thought it koo-koo-krazy that PleasureCrusin' invited me back so soon. Usually, I am used to folks rejecting me after one post...this PleasureCruise fella is giving TWO bites at the apple. Holy hot bat-shit!
Some of you may already know this toon, but there are just as many that do not--and should. This hot mover is brought to us by Tommy 'Apache' Seebach. The first thing that strikes a listener it not the music, it is Tommy's outrageously furry moustache. And, I will also admit Tommy does resemble an auto mechanic that is working off some debt, or something.
Although little known outside of Western Europe, Tommy Seebach looms large on the Danish pop landscape, enjoying massive chart success for over a quarter century. Born Thomas Seebach Mortensen in Copehagen on September 14, 1949, he studied piano as a child and at 14 formed his first band.
After more than a decade with a proper band, Seebach mounted a solo career in 1976 and a year later, he issued the best-selling Tommygun (what a wicked-sweet name, right?) In 1979, Seebach won the Danish Melodi Grand Prix with Disco Tango. The song was a blockbuster throughout much of Western Europe.
After a long struggle with alcoholism, Seebach died of a heart attack in 2003.
