Cosmic Balearic Journey

It's finally safe to say Summer is upon us. And I've got the perfect mix for poolside drinks and dimly lit backroom nights from artist Antony Kein.

Check out some more of his mixes here & here.

I'm back from the dead.

Head over to Darklord's site to pick up his third, and in my opinion his best, mix for the season. The track list is killer; Goblin, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis.
And the final track? Are you kidding me?!?! Brilliant.

Made In The 216

I've put together a mix for a party I'm playing this weekend. The gig is Made In The 216; an event put on by the super hot Room Service shop and it's proprietor, Danielle DeBoe. Billed as two days of shopping, music, beer, food and shenanigans - it all goes down this weekend June 11th and 12th. So please, come out and support local artists and small business owners. It's gonna be radical.

Ok - onto the mix. It's pretty simple, actually. Side A is for the lovers. Don Henely, Nu Shooz and Jarvis Cocker. Side B is for the party people; with the likes of Hot Chip, Kano and The Phenomenal Handclap Band. I've also sprinkled in a few nostalgic audio snippets that many fellow Clevelanders should find amusing...hope you enjoy!

I'm proud to have my friend Ryan Santos contribute to the blog's mix series. Ryan is a super talented dude and is currently focusing on Please. Please is Ryan's unique catering company. It combines great grandmothers' techniques & forgotten ingredients with innovative and creative approaches to modern seasonal cooking. Please specializes in catering events from 5-50 people; featuring multi-course dinner parties, hors d' oeuvres, craft cocktails, catered picnics, beer pairings and anything and everything else in between.

Ryan's talents also lie in crafting the perfect mix for sun kissed summer days. Check out Pleasetoeatyou.com and enjoy the mix.

mix02: Chris Kontos

After a brief hiatus, the PleasureCruise'n Mix Series is back. I'm super excited to have fellow blogger and DJ Chris Kontos, contribute to the series. Chris is part of the amazing blog plaidmusic - a site I'd expect most readers of this blog to be extremely familiar with. If not - get familiar folks! Ok, enough of me...time to let Chris do the talking.

"This is a collection of my warmest memories from my endless summers in the embrace of the Aegean Sea. The north winds of August blowing violently on our blue painted windows. Watching the sun diving into the water from our little balcony. The crickets singing their midnight symphonies outside our room. The smell of oil tan in my bag. The taste of saltwater on your skin. The humming of the old refrigerator that is the most beautiful sound of the summer. This is Caldera, a tribute to a place so imaginary, but so real in the same place. The island of our dreams."

Mixed emotions.

Here's the first (and only) take on a mix I made last night in honor of Valentine's Day. Like most of my relationships, this mix has its technical ups and downs; but it's the imperfections that make this mix (and most of my reltaionships) special and real and human, right?

Daybreak / Mr. Monday
Cambio / Corduba
Magic (Cole's Love 4 Banani Mix) / Olivia Newton-John
Morning Bump / Afrobutt
I Need Somebody To Love Tonight / Sylvester
Andromeda (Prelude To The Future) / Meanderthals
You Got The Love (House Appella) / Candi Station
Hands Of Love (Gatto Fritto Menorcan Nightmare Version) / Rocha
Cherry-Coloured Funk / Cocteau Twins

mix01: Small Pyramids

This year I'm going to start sharing mixes from people I like. Some will come from djs; while others may come from musicians or producers or both. I may even throw in a chef or two. The point is - all mixes will come from forward thinking artists I respect and admire. Sounds nice, right?

If you're a regular reader of the blog, my first guest should come as no surprise. Really diggin' this mix of new hits, a few old ones and even some originals from a super talented dude who's been featured on here before; Small Pyramids.

Pleasure Chest Mix / Small Pyramids

Eddie C - Hold On
Rayko - Slowtrack
The Revenge - Just Be Good to Me feat. Danielle Moore
Bryan Ferry - Slave to Love (Zambon Rework)
Roberto Rodriguez - Venus
Gregg Diamond & Bionic Boogie - Creamy (Lucci Capri Edit)
Small Pyramids - Diamonds & Dirt
Social Disco Club & Maia - The Way You Move (Greg Wilson Verison)
Joe Simon - Love Vibration (Hawk Re-edit)
Motor City Drum Ensemble - Raw Cuts #5
Small Pyramids - Check The Groove
Ray Mang - Bad Boy
Fashion - Mutant Dance Move

Zach has also been kind enough to hook me up with one of his latest productions (and probably my favorite to date); Lost In Chicago. Hope you enjoy!

Deck the halls.

A new mix from my good friend, ultra talented DJ, and all around rad dude MisterBradleyP. He has put together a fucking great holiday mix. So many (myself included) flood the web with "themed mixes" that more often than not, fall flat and loose direction. But this baby is tiiiiiight. The Snoop Dogg intro may initially turn off some readers of this blog - please don't let it. Its only the beginning (one that I like btw) of a super fun journey through some brilliantly chosen and tightly mixed Christmas tunes. Such a party starter! Feliz navidad!

MoCA Mix

Enjoy a portion of my set from the Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art Fall Gallery Opening this past weekend. I decided to start recording about thirty minutes into it, so please excuse the abrupt intro. The mix is just under an hour and contains some familiar and not so familiar tracks. The Crown Heights Affair tune at the end of the mix marks the beginning of headliner DJ Sabbo's set; which was an absolute killer. Super solid dude too.
