What Is Minimal?

I went to check out Michael Mayer this past week. I don't know all that much about techno. But I know Kompakt. And I know Mayer. And I know both are responsible for pumping out extremely solid music.

So I guess it should have come as no surprise that a track he played at the tail end of his set that had me loosing my shit - was a release on his very own Kompakt label.

Is Walter Neff techno? Is Walter Neff pop? Who cares. It's an amazing tune that I've had on repeat for days now...

Today I'd like to share a track from what I consider one of last year's best full lengths*. I actually just bought the album - diskJokke's Staying In - which is kinda the reason I'm creamin' my jeans over this now as opposed to over a year ago when the album came out on Smalltown Supersound.

And posting a 30 year old italo tune is suddenly the bee's knees? Huh?
